Residents of a condo complex on Hutchinson Island were evacuated last night.
St. Lucie County officials say a structural engineer hired by the Villa del Sol homeowners association discovered extensive damage during an inspection and eleven people were forced to leave two of the three buildings on the property.
The third building is not being occupied at this time.
The buildings were labeled unsafe for occupancy and the residents were informed they had to leave for their safety. Residents received an email yesterday afternoon that they had to evacuate.
County officials assisted with the evacuation process and say everyone was able to make arrangements for the night.
Villa del Sol is located along Ocean Drive in Jensen Beach.
