Owls Don't Make Great Ring Bearers

An essential element of any wedding ceremony is the exchange of rings, a symbol of commitment and unity. However, many couples entrust this crucial task to ring bearers who are often not the most dependable. Typically, these bearers are young children, but one couple in the U.K. learned the hard way that choosing a winged creature for this role can be equally risky.

Last month, this couple decided to add a unique twist to their wedding by having an owl, inspired by the "Harry Potter" series, serve as their ring bearer. Unfortunately, the plan didn't unfold as expected. The owl, once given the rings, took flight and perched high on a window sill in the abbey where the wedding was taking place, refusing to return for seven hours.

The owl's handler, who was supposed to ensure the smooth delivery of the rings, tried in vain to coax the bird down with a piece of chicken. When all efforts failed, the couple had no choice but to proceed with the ceremony without the rings. It wasn't until much later that night that the owl finally returned with the rings in tow.
