Richard Simmons Was Always An Awesome Guest on Letterman - RIP

The late Richard Simmons and David Letterman were like a well-engineered comedy team: they played off of each other so well, each playing their own part perfectly while being in on the joke. I miss when TV was like this and we could actually laugh at ourselves and each other in a shared, good-hearted way. You could tell there was a real respect and mutual appreciation between the two. Why is everything so serious now?
