Everywhere you go, someone is looking for a “tip” for what seem to be even the most basic of services. More and more consumers are getting fed up with it, and “tip rage” has become more common, as a result. Gratuities are generally expected at sit-down, service-based restaurant jobs, but the “rage” kicks in when customers are asked for a little extra at the convenience and grocery stores, fast food restaurants, or even at some self-checkout kiosks at the airport. If you’ve never seen that, you read that right, self-checkout kiosks are asking for tips. What makes it worse for actual service workers is that the people who are burnt out on being constantly asked for tips end up tipping less to the traditional service workers because it all gets lumped into the noise.
