Social Dilemma: Good Friend Damaged My Car; Do I Make Him Pay?

Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Riley and it's about cars and friends. Here's her email: Hi Jaime. I have a dilemma. A good friend of mine banged up my car over the weekend. He borrowed it to go pick up dinner for a group of us and he hit a partition, leaving a huge dent all the way down the whole passenger side of the car. He doesn’t make much money, but I don’t feel like I should have to bear this financial burden myself. Do I ask him to pay for the repairs or at least my deductible even though I know it’s going to be tough for him? What would you do? Thanks for the help. Love your show ~ Riley. I think the key here is that Riley said he took the car to pick up food not only for himself but for Riley and a group of friends. Since she willingly let him take the car, I'm not so sure I would put all the burden on him. I might ask him to contribute to the repairs, or more likely the deductible, but let's face it, insurance will cover most of it, so I wouldn't be too hard on him. Accidents happen. That's why we have insurance. That's my take anyway. What do you think? Let's help Riley and her friend out and let me know what you think on the TRY Facebook page.
