Thanks to a memo from the Texas Secretary of State, Texas elections will be a little bit more secure, and your ballot may be a little more secret. Some Texas counties will now be using sequentially numbered ballots.

Brandon Walton with the Texas Scorecard told KTRH, "What this directive from the Secretary of State says is that ballots need to be numbered, but they need to be done so in a way that's completely disconnected from the voter books."

Walton says this is a critical step towards making our elections more secure. He said, "It adds another layer of security so that votes can be audited, that's the goal, but in a way that doesn't tie the ballot to any specific voter."

This move may have been a result of the alleged leaking of the former Texas GOP Chairman's primary ballot earlier this year. Walton says he hopes the pre-printed sequential ballots will become the standard across the State of Texas.
