A restored historic carousel is returning to the New Jersey Shore July 4th

My grand kids still love going on a Merry Go Round. Over 3,500 carousels were built in the United States in the first part of the 1900's. Now about 175 are left for little kids and their parents to enjoy. Thanks to the efforts of an 82 year old college professor at CUNY. One of those historic works of art has been beautifully restored and will return to the boardwalk at Seaside Heights on July 4th. Floyd Moreland spearheaded the effort five years ago to save the 114 year old ride. Now the carousel bears his name. Back in 2019 it was taken apart and sent 600 miles to a company in Ohio that does restoration work on merry go rounds. This particular carousel is now the oldest operating at the New Jersey Shore. The cost for a ride is only 4 bucks. Children under 42 inches ride for free.
