King Charles embarked on his first solo engagement since returning to his royal duties amid cancer treatment on Thursday (May 9).

According to People, the 75-year-old royal met with family and staff of the Royal School of Military Engineering in Minley and chatted with "members of the 8 Engineer Brigade." Buckingham Palace announced the King's cancer diagnosis in February, pressing pause on public events for a few months. Just last week, he and Queen Camilla stopped by the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre, standing out as the royal's first "public outing" since the grim diagnosis.

Following the visit, the Queen shared that her husband was "really thrilled to be out" after months of treatment and healing within palace walls. One day prior to the King's first solo engagement since his diagnosis (May 8), he and Camilla hosted Buckingham Palace's first garden party of the year and were met with "thousands of guests," per People.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace recently shared an update regarding the King's condition, assuring the public that he has made great progress so far.

"His Majesty is greatly encouraged to be resuming some public-facing duties and very grateful to his medical team for their continued care and expertise."

A specific cancer diagnosis has yet to be revealed as the public delights in the return of King Charles' royal engagements.
