Meet Our Newest Family Member - Daisy Mae!

Ladies and Gents- meet our newest family member- Daisy Mae!

She's a 5 month old rescue pup from Mississippi that we adopted through Sweet Paws Rescue out of northern Massachusetts. Sweet Paws was the first "open house" event we went to once we decided we were ready, after losing our 14 yr old "Molly" exactly one year ago (coincidence). The first dog that came to us at that event was an EXACT lookalike of Molly- and it just felt like a sign to us. So we registered, was assigned a volunteer to guide us through the whole process- and her name was Kerri. She was so kind and helpful and made everything very easy - and as soon as we saw THIS pic-

We reached out to her to see if the dog had been adopted yet. Miraculously- she hadn't. And that's all it took- we went and met her and she was wonderful (special shout out to Tara- her foster parent, who took her in for a couple weeks before we could make the move). She's about 5 months old and came to us microchipped, spayed and vaxxed, and she sits on command, and goes to the door when she needs to go out! Pretty good start, right?

Here's a short video I made of it -

I have to say - and I TRULY mean every word of this: I don't think we could have made a better choice! She's so chill, and affectionate and is already settling in! She's a cuddler, which Valerie loves- and is also very playful.

I knew it was going to be good when she jumped into the car to get in with Valerie when we picked her up - and immediately did this-

She walked across the seat and put her head on Valerie's shoulder.

Once at home, after the first walk - filled with "Hello's" to the neighbors- haha- she chilled watching some tv -

I know it's only been two days, but I have to say - it feels like a perfect fit for us, and we couldn't be happier with the whole process. I can highly recommend Sweet Paws Rescue if you are looking for a dog. You can check them out at WWW.SWEETPAWSRESCUE.ORG. Special thank you to our volunteer Kerri, and Daisy's foster Mom -Tara. Thanks for bringing Daisy to us.

I would also like to thank the many rescue organizations that reached out to me while we were starting to look. There are many organizations like Mary's Dogs that do wonderful work everyday helping to find homes for abandon dogs. Thank you to all of the organizations who do that kind of work. I can't - for the life of me - understand why anyone would ever abandon or not care for a dog, but Im glad organizations like these exist so that can rescue them and put them in homes with people who want to give them each as best a life as possible.

So we went from being empty nesters, with a house that was pretty much spotless - to the proud owners of a new pup that's a great addition to the family.

We've never been happier to have dog hair on us, and stuffy toys all over the floor.

Welcome home Daisy.
