My Weekend: A Night of Queen, Apples, Bucks, Boats, Sunrises and Tequlia

Was that three days? Man that went by quick, huh? And the weather? PERFECT.

Figures! Weather sucked for a good chunk of the summer and it saved the best 4 day run for summers very end!

Anyway- kicked off the weekend with lunch at this new place my son and I tried in Dover NH -

If you're a bit adventurous when it comes to food, meaning - you like to try new stuff- this place is really good! They've got some stylized dishes with flavors from all over the world, and it was really good!

I got the burger, which does not come with a bun. Here it is on a bed of rice, with gravy, an over-easy egg and a piece of fried kimchi. It was very good!

*I don't get anything for talking about that place here- I just figure if I try a place and it's really good- I want you to know about it, so I share it here!

We hit the Casino Ballroom on Friday night for "One Night of Queen". I had never seen them before and I knew they were going to crush it when they opened with my favorite Queen song- "Tie Your Mother Down".

They played all the hits, and sounded EXCELLENT! The lead singer personified Freddie Mercury from the vocals to his movements, his stage patter and more, and the band was Killer, Queen. Get it? Haha- dude- Im funny! hahah -

Hit our local orchard on Saturday because Valerie has a thing for Early Macs. The more tart they are - the better. We hit Butternut Farms and picked a bag! (The crop looks pretty amazing too!)

And like I always say- "Please Support Your Local Farms" folks! You can't be farm to table, or with apples- farm to mouth!

Got up and hit the beach on Saturday morning, only to find out then that Jimmy Buffett had passed away. That one stunned me. I've been a fan since the late 70's and this one hurt. I wrote a "Thank You" to him which you can read in another post on my page here. But I was out shooting a sunrise when I found out, and I got this shot on York Beach.

The sky was a dull gray, and I wasn't even sure if the sun would rise because it looked like clouds went all the way down to the horizon line. Then suddenly, it rose in front of the clouds as a giant ball of red and orange fire. There wasn't much of a surf, so I opted for long distance shots of Nubble Light from Long Sands.

And when a lone woman walked down the beach, I just waited for her to step into the suns reflection on the sand...

It was really weird light that morning so the color is really kind of murky. Maybe it was Mother Nature taking a day off to mourn Jimmy Buffett, who knows?

And did I mention that I met these two guys, sitting in the back of the field?

Always cool to see bucks.

Got up early on Sunday too for another try at sunrise, but it too was a somber one, albeit in a different way.

The rising sun colored the sky this time, and I caught a fishing boat headed out to sea.

I love watching moments like this early in the morning, before the rest of the world wakes up. It's a great way to start the day.

Sunday afternoon, we hung with my buddy Chris "Doctor Of Rock" Garrett and his wife Ann. They're great friends- and we chilled on a river run aboard their boat!

Doc and I have been friends for about 40 years now. Seems like both a long time, and yesterday at the same time. They don't make better dudes than Doc. Fact.

And wait! What is this? The Mississippi River? What's up with the House Boat/Paddle Boat? Is that a floating casino or what??? Haha- pretty cool though! Instant party house!

On the way home Sunday night, we swung by my son's place, where he was having bit of a party

And I'll just leave you with that last photo, and you can take it from there.

Monday was a total chill, do stuff around the house day. So that's the name of that tune...

Hope you had a good one too.
