Valerie and I spent the weekend up in the Rangeley Maine area doing some off roading with friends! We all had side by sides and we had a blast!
We got there Friday afternoon - I'll say this- the northbound traffic on 95 was the worst I've seen in a while. Now, normally I don't travel at peak times, so I'm never in it when it's the worst- but holy crap! In addition- I saw no less than 9 state trooper cars doing radar along the way! Now, I don't have a problem with that, but that's the most I've ever seen on one 3.5 hr trip!
Anyway- we finally landed at camp -
If you've never driven around in an off road "Side by Side" - it's a two seater vehicle that can pretty much drive through, up and over, just about anything. Ok - maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but not by much. I can say that because we went over rocks, roots, ditches and puddle s that no other vehicle that isn't a tank would make it through. It's loud, and bumpy as all ****. You get totally soaked and muddy- but it's a TON of fun! Here's Valerie and I in one of the rigs we drove. We did almost 60 miles in it on Saturday.
And our friends- at the top of "Quill Hill" in Rangeley Maine....
It rained hard on Friday night- so the dust these things normally kick up was non existence. That also meant we didn't have dust caked on our glasses, face and eyes- haha- Thank GOD!
Along the logging roads, there's tons of cut trees - and the smell of pines fills the air- and it smells better than any Christmas tree you ever had!
And HEY! I found KELLY BROWNS NEXT CHRISTMAS TREE!
Temps Saturday afternoon plummeted to about 64 degrees - so once we got back to camp, I hit the lake and threw a Bob Marley sweatshirt on! Nyup!
We stayed in due to rain and just chilled, had a nice dinner, and enjoyed the night-
Went out on Sunday morning early to see what I could see with the camera- and came away with NOTHING! Mother Natured saved all her color for when I was driving in the wrong direction- so I got ZIP.
So -here's one from a few weeks ago instead.... (hahah- I know- technically this is a cheat, but whatever! SUE ME!)
Besides- even though it was wicked cloudy - this is what it looked like in my mind.....
I did head into Cathedral Pines in Eustis and did some shooting there- I love tall pine trees without branches. Gorgeous to look at and shoot-
*no finished product photo yet- havent had time - but heres a selfie from the phone-
And check out this tree that got savaged by a hungry wood pecker! Those wholes go almost all the way through the tree itself!
4 giant holes chiseled out of a tree by an angry 'pecker!!!
The trip home was fun!!
Not! Ugh. Southbound traffic on a Sunday afternoon and we were smack dab in the middle of it. Double ugh.
But at least when I got home - after i took care of some stuff- I could knock out the latest ep of "Alone" on History Channel!
And thats about it for my weekend, kids. The only thing I didn't share with you was the nakedness, drunken throwing up, strip shows, and other debauchery!!
Maybe next week!
It was a fun weekend with good friends-
Hope you had a good weekend!
