My Weekend: Rain, TV, Pool, Rain, Food Trucks, Rain, Beer, a Show & Rain

The weekend turned out to be a dance between rain storms, and overall it wasn't bad. My thoughts are with all of those affected by the flooding. We played it pretty close to home due to the forecasts, though.

I thought I'd include a couple photos from our Lend a Helping Can After Work Party with our high bidder, Todd and his friends and family at KC's Rib Shack! We had a great time! Here's a couple selfies!

Check out the head on THIS guy!

Kelly Charles Brown III, ladies and gentlemen!!

And the Princess of Winsor!

Friday afternoons (especially rainy ones) are perfect for me to get caught up on one of my favorite tv shows- History Channel's "Alone"

10 people put in the wilderness - ALONE - with no cameramen or anyone - and the person who survives the longest wins $500K. There's no "Immunity Challenge" BS or nonsense- just people trying to live off the land in a harsh environment. It's an amazing test of endurance, and all of the contestants are survivalists - people who do that stuff for a living. It gets pretty crazy!

And I'm not sure if you heard the news, but on Friday there was a Great White Whale sighting in New England!

It was brief, granted - but all reports say it was a magnificent creature to see in person!!!

Went out with the camera on Saturday morning and got absolutely nothing, which sucks. The only thing I did see - was 6 deer (a few of which were young bucks)- walking across a road in Kittery Maine- and the only thing I had in my hand was my phone. So blame the crappy pic on that - hahah

And here's a subject I want to bring up: SCONES.

Does anyone ever eat SCONES? I never did, and don't usually eat em. Why? Well, mainly because they're drier my Uncle Jim's ashes. BLECHT!!! Or....at least they USED TO BE!

Then I tried the scones at this bakery in my town - and I have to say - they're the BEST SCONES I've ever had! Here's the Blackberry Scone I had on Saturday morning after my failed photo outing-

They're slightly sweet, with no frosting, and you can often get them warm if you go early enough - to 45 Market St in Somersworth! They're only open Fri and Sat mornings- but it's worth it to get and grab a couple. Different flavors every week.

Moving on-

We heard of this new Food Truck Festival place in Durham - and it's called The Tideline Public House! It's got several food trucks serving different types of food, with great live music, and there's plenty of locally brewed beer there too! We had a great time! And since Valerie and I didn't get do our Brew Tour with our friends- we grabbed a couple local brews at Tidleline!

She grabbed at 603 and I tried a Pickering Pils from Backhill Beer Co of Rochester NH! Good stuff! And the food trucks were awesome too!

Tideline Public House- really cool summertime vibe!

On Sunday we got more torrential downpours - so we didn't get out till late afternoon so we slid over to The Word Barn in Exeter to see our friends The ADAM EZRA GROUP play! Always good to see Adam, Corinna, Poche' and Alex!

What never ceases to amaze me about The Adam Ezra Group is that - no matter the size of the audience- they leave it all out there on the stage. The Word Barn is a very intimate venue- maybe 125 people or so, and they still crushed it! The relationship between that band and it's audience is a special one, and it showed once again at the Word Barn.

And last but not least- we watched this movie - THE COVENANT -

Jake Gyllenhall stars in a true story about the heroics of a US Army Sargent and an Afghani Interpreter fighting the Taliban.

And I'll give it a 9 out of 10 stars. And if you don't believe me - ask Valerie! She loved it too!

Hope y'all had a good weekend.

And yeah, I just said "Y'all" - and I ain't from the south, So sue me.... haha
