On Monday night Oct 17th at 7pm, WMUR-TV's "NH CHRONICLE" will be airing another installment of my "TABLE FOR TWO" series where I sit down with someone and talk with them about their life.
On Monday- my guest is my buddy, comedian BOB MARLEY.
We spent an hour or so talking about his life, his career, his comedy and more, sitting in Mary Ann's Diner in Derry NH.
And I'll own this right up front: Marley is about as nice, and normal a guy as you'll ever meet. Especially in the comedy world. He's also the hardest working person I know in show business.
The man is a non stop, working machine. He's relentless. And there's way more to his comedy than anyone realizes. Therein lies the magic of it all.
We sat down and shot the shit while the crew (Todd Diorio, videographer, editor extraordinaire pictured above) got everything ready.
I have coffee, he had Diet Coke.
Marley was just being, well - you know- Marley!
Here's how it goes: Maryanne, the executive producer looks at me and says "Go", and we're off. I had a sheet of questions on the table that I never even looked at. Bob and I just let it rip non stop for about an hour.
In truth, his life and career are fascinating! Tune in to hear stories about what his life was like when he was living in LA, and jumping on stage immediately following some of comedy's biggest hitters (Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Andrew Dice Clay, Dane Cook, and tons more). See - as a comic- the LAST thing you want to do is FOLLOW those heavy hitters. Not Marley, though. He went after that s***. He lived for it; going on stage AFTER a heavy hitter, and CRUSHING it. THAT'S Bob Marley.
He's also a huge family guy. After a gig - the dude goes HOME. He's not our ripping it up, he goes home. It keeps him grounded. (And he's got a wonderful family)
If you have ever seen Bob perform - you should see this. I think it's going to be funny, and really eye opening about how much of a genius this guy is.
Me and Marley. (Im the slim one on the right)
(And is it me, or does Marley wax his legs??? hahah. I've got to ask him next time I see him!)
I made him introduce me to all 9 of his family members (or his impressions of them, mind you) on the special - and it's hilarious.
It's hard to be serious around the guy....
But watch the special and let me know what you think.
Bob Marley is a nice guy, for sure- but there's way more to him that meets the eye. And thats what I hope to show you...
Monday Oct 17, 7pm on WMUR-TV- Channel 9.
