The Celtics-Bucks Game 7: Valerie, a Long Lost Friend, and a Huge Win!

I was lucky to score tickets to the Celtics/Bucks Game 7 at the Garden on Sunday afternoon.

Valerie- who's a huge Celts (and Marcus Smart) fan - loves going to the games, and we had gone to Game 1 as well. The problem is - The Celts LOST Game 1. So - I figured - as a true fan - I would therefore NOT be able to go to any other game in this series - lest I/we bring them more bad luck! It's the only respectable thing to do, right?

WRONG!

The more I thought about it - the more I realized- that there were 19,000 OTHER people in the Garden the night of Game 1 - so MAYBE IT WAS THEM WHO BROUGHT THE BAD LUCK AND NOT US???

So I said "Screw that!" - and went to Game 7.

Clearly I made the right call! Not only did we BRING the good JUJU - we brought the ASS KICKIN JUJU! Here's some pics and video from the game...

Lots of celebs in the house (besides Valerie, of course....) -

Robert Kraft and Mac Jones were in the house, as were former Celtic great Paul Pierce, and Barstools Dave Portnoy. Oh, and this guy walked right by me...

And the seats were pretty hard to take.....

Valerie, as you can see- REALLY gets into the game. Truth is - I love watching her when she's into it. Its complete JOY for her -and its pretty cool to watch.

Like when Marcus Smart gets introduced...

OR when Marcus Smart scores...

And here's a question - what's your take on these GIANT HEAD things at games?

I always thought they were funny to see on tv. But then I realized- what if the dude holding that HUGE HEAD poster- is holding it up right in front of YOU? And you paid $200 A TICKET?

NOT SO FUNNY NOW, IS IT??

So I've changed my position on em: You hold em up before a game, I have no issue. You hold em up during a game? You're a douchebag.

And check this story- I see this guy walk by and I'm like- "Man - I KNOW that guy". And I was positive it was him - which is strange because while Im pretty good with faces, I'm not so good with names. But I know this guys name - Im sure of it. So- i get up in between quarters- and go over to see if it's who I think it is. He looks like a guy I worked with who worked for Six Flags Great Adventure when we did promotions with them about 30 years ago. He was the marketing guy. He later went to work for New York Rangers. I went down to have lunch with him in NYC and he gave me a tour of Madison Square Garden, and then gifted me with a signed Mike Richter jersey! He was always a positive, very cool dude.

So I go over to see if it's him - and I ask "Excuse me - this maybe a weird question, but is your name Peter?" - He says "Yeah it is!" - and I intro myself and remembers me immediately. Im friggin psyched I wasn't WRONG!!! HAHA -

He asked how I was doing and if I was still in radio - and I answered him. Then I asked "Dude- what are you doing here?" - and he answers....

"Im the President of the Milwaukee Bucks".

Me: "GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!" - and he laughs - But HE IS!

I had NO IDEA!! My old friend Peter Feigin - who I hadn't seen or talked to in 20 years - IS THE PRESIDENT OF A WORLD CHAMPION NBA FRANCHISE!!!

I was flabbergasted!!! How cool is that?

I will say - with no exaggeration- that it totally figures. Way back then - he was a total pro at everything. So good with people, so positive and hard working. No wonder he succeeded. He was the President when the Bucks won the CHampionship last year, and has gotten all kinds of awards for his work. So happy that it all happened to such a good guy. Seriously- the Celts winning made my day, but this was pretty cool too. Crazy story...

So....when it was all said and done- the Celts blew out the Bucks. And leaving the Garden - out on to Causeway St- the crowds were still chanting -

Heres a short video of some of the crowd stuff (nothing fancy - just some cool sound)

What a great day. From the excitement (and anxiety of the first three and a half quarters) of the win, and re-connecting with a long lost buddy - who is kicking ass and taking names in the sports world....it was a very cool way to spend a Sunday..
