"Weekends are just too friggin short" - said every single person ever.
Friday I took about an hour and went to check out an eagles nest. You're shocked, I know....haha. But it's a cool thing to do to chill out for about an hour. And sometimes you get lucky and see one or two. When I got to the place, one particular bald eagle had just flown from the nest and started doing loops around the area. The thing was just leisurely flying in circles, stopping on a tree branch, then launching for another lap. So -being that I just HAPPENED to have my camera (You're shocked, I know) - I shot the thing. Here's a couple of the 800 images I shot in 20 minutes (haha- my camera shoots 10 frames a second, so it's easy to rack em up).
She flew right by me several times....just doing her thing...
and I watched her do touch and go's on a nearby tree....
Saturday (and Sunday, to be honest) - I watched the Masters. It's pretty much the only tournament I watch MOST of when it's on. I do enjoy watching and playing golf- but I rarely get to watch a lot of tv tournaments.
I was surprised by one thing ....
Who knew JOE EXOTIC from Tiger King could GOLF???? Holy crap! I thought that cat (pun intended) was still in lock up!
Dude can CRUSH the ball! (Holy sh*t though - DON'T TELL CAROLE BASKIN!)
Saturday night, Valerie and I went out with our friends Dave and Jolene- and they took us to WALKERS Restaurant in York ME to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary -
Before you ask - the drink in the foreground is mine. It's a Moscow Mule with cranberry. Yeah, prolly a chick drink - but do you think I give a ****??? Haha- NOPE. It's good and thats all that matters to me. It was a really nice night - and the restaurant- is FANTASTIC. If you are looking for a special night- WALKERS in York on Rt 1 is amazing.
Here's how they cool their food - open an open wood fired flame -
Pretty crazy system to watch- but the food they make is first rate, and the service is excellent as well.
Sunday morning I was out shooting the sunrise at Bald Cliffs (also in York), and I was right down on the waterline photographing the incoming surf hitting the rocks. Until this wave came in a little larger than I expected...
It may not look it, but that wave is coming in hot, and Im closer to it than it looks- so I had almost no time to get out of it's way - because I HAD to get the shot! Anyway - if you've ever wondered what it looks like when a photographer gets hit - waist high- by a wave they didn't expect to be so big - I would say -
It looks like this...
At the very last second, I took the last shot, grabbed the tripod and turned to get back. Little did I know that I hit the shutter just as the wave hit me as I was moving. I got soaked from the nuts down, but here's the shot I didn't know I took when it happened....
No matter though. I stuck to it and kept shooting. As the saying in photography goes- "If you ain't getting wet, you ain't close enough".
Wait...
That doesn't sound good at all, does it?
Haha-
Whatever. That's my story and Im stickin to it...
Hope you had a good weekend too -
