Cleaning out a small section of the office- I found this under a huge box.
It's a letter I got from Superior Court Judge Lance Ito - the judge who presided over the OJ Simpson trial.
Way back in 1995, I was watching the trial (like everyone else on the plantet), and I saw he had a coffee mug on the bench - and it had some company logo on it. So- I thought- hey! Lets send him one of our station/morning show coffee mugs! At the time, the show was called "Greg and Courtney in The Morning" on WHEB.
So I sent it as a goof - never expecting to hear or see anything about it ever again.
A week later, I was watching the trial again - and
THERE IT WAS.
Our morning show coffee mug - ON THE BENCH DURING THE OJ SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL.
I was both kind of proud, and kind of embarrassed- because I never in a million years thought he'd do it.
But he did!
And a few days later- I got this letter-
And even though I and others clearly saw it was our mug on the desk - it was a time before cell phones, and dvrs and such - so i dont have a pic of it on his desk (and no- I've never goobled to look for it yet either).
Kind of a crazy thing that was an early radio lesson for me: Never think anything is too dumb to do. Haha...
It was a strange moment in time - and even stranger, looking back on it...
