My Weekend in 5 (or so pics): Photo Walks, One Trippers & Moose Tracks

Started out Saturday morning by ripping through yard work - mowed the lawn, weed whacked, and gave the house a bath. That's right- I gave the house a friggin bath with the hose - just to get the yellow dust off the damn thing. And no - I didn't take any photos of it because you would have caught me mid-cuss for having to do it in the first place. But I digress-

This was Lend a Helping Can Photo Walk Weekend, and that meant I went out with my buddies Scott Thorp and Doug Harrington to help 20 listeners learn more about photography! We did one group of ten on Fri and Sat nights - both nights wrapping up around 11p. And that doesnt include the post walk pizza at midnight at the Gaslight! (and it was excellent! haha)

Had two great groups of really cool folks out with us on both nights - and we had a blast. Here are the group shots- from night 1, and then 2.

Its pretty cool to see someone realize the kind of pictures they can take when you show them something new. Their faces light up - and that's pretty cool to see.

And when it comes to getting just the right shot - there isn't much I won't do -

thanks to Michelle for the pic! Haha-

But seriously, here's one I shot while we were out shooting around Portsmouth-

The late night, empty street vibe was perfect around 11pm outside the Rosa. The neon light lit the bricks and benches perfectly below. Portsmouth is a city filled with scenes like this, and if you like night photography- it's certainly a "target rich environment".

And below is one of me talking to the group about one of the techniques you can use to make everything in your image to be in perfect focus. It's one of the many things we cover in our workshops. And all the money spent to be a part of it - all $8000 as a group- went to help feed folks in need through Lend a Helping Can.

In other news....

I'm a total ONE TRIPPER. I don't bring in HALF the groceries - because I ain't no two trip *****! haha- I will dislocate my own arms to bring it all in - in ONE TRIP. Don't care if it's 80 lbs or 100- it's all going in the house in one trip. I will hold bags in my teeth to do it. I think my record is about 15 bags - but the photo above is a more manageable 8. It's one of my greatest life achievements, really. This, and pumping gas and getting the pump to stop on the exact dollar amount. I'd win Gold if either of these two were an olympic sport!

Oh, and I'd also win Gold at this....

Mine the one on the right. Maine Moose Tracks. Valerie loves Black Raspberry.

We figured we walked a ton, did a lot of yard stuff- and it was 95 degrees - so **** it. Haha...

We did other stuff too - but Im so fried from the last couple of non stop weeks and weekend, I can't remember anything -

heh heh heh...

Hope yours was good!
