New Photo Tuesday: Bald Eagles And Such

Here's some recent photos I've shot.......

One of the reasons I find bald eagles so fascinating is because a lot of their behaviors are similar to ours. They mate for life (ok, so not ALL of em are like us...haha) - and they actually work as a team. In this pic, the female (right) has been sitting on newly laid egg for a while. The male returns to the nest and takes over so she can take a break and take off from the nest. That's what's happening here. I've seen them fight, feed each other, dote on each other, bicker, and mate. Yeah, the last one felt weird to watch- but it's just nature, and it was cool.

Ashland NH. I drove 2 hours just to find this spot. And in doing so, I vowed to use as many back roads as I could - avoiding well travelled roads. The reason was - that by staying off the beaten path- I've found you see cooler stuff. Stuff most haven't seen or fail to notice. This is one of those places.

Huge surf along the coast has been a thing for the last couple weeks. On a few occaisions, it was big enough to spill over on to the roadways. This was one of those days.

I woke up early and headed to the coast to hopefully shoot the milky way before the sun came up. It kind of fizzled, so I was back on the road at 5am headed for Tamworth. I got there just as the sun hit Mt Chocorua. My timing, luckily, seemed impeccable - if I must say so myself...

The surf along York's Marginal Way. Loved the way the light highlighted the green in the ocean water.

And lastly- the original X-Wing fighter....

So there you go. And one of the most often asked questions I get about my photography is - "where do you find the time?". Good question - and here's the answer:

I take the time. Normally- it's early on a weekend morning. I go out and shoot early morning stuff before most get up - and I can be back at home by 10-11a. Then Valerie and I have the day to do whatever. Or - if I have an hour or two during the week or mid day - instead of going home and doing work -I head out to check out some eagles nests or see what i can shoot. The thing is - is that I take advantage of the time I have and can use to do it. It doesnt help that we're out of the "kid zone" - where we have kids at home to care for. That frees you up alot! haha- So there you go. If you have a camera- take the time to go out and use it. Trust me, once you do it - you'll love it -
