Travelling around the dirt logging roads of Maine in the early morning hours, this is the kind of thing that makes me stop and get out of the car...
The Kancamagus Highway is an extremely dark place in the middle of the night. There is very little light from nearby towns to illuminate the sky. So, we "painted" the landscape with flashlights while keeping our shutters open. I loved the way the stars stood out behind the clouds - and the light illuminated what the cover of night likes to keep for itself...
