This is one of my favorite memories of my career. This is a photo of BRAD DELP, and Boston - singing in an empty Verizon Wireless Arena - just for me and about 10 other folks.And there in the middle of it was Brad - a man who had become a friend. As a rock fan, it was hard to believe, but as a human- it was as natural as could be. That was just how Brad was. One of the greatest vocalists in American rock would much rather talk to you about YOU, than about him. I don't just think of him on this, the anniversary of the day he left us - I celebrate him everyday, with his music, the music he loved, and the gift of kindness he gave to me.
I will never forget the day I took this photo. He called to me from the stage - "Sounding ok, Greg?". Ummm - yeah Brad. It sounded amazing. I remember it clearly- he was wearing his Paul Mccartney "Flowers in the Dirt" concert t-shirt. Always paying homage to the band he loved the most.
And what did he sayI when they finished?
"I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we've passed the audition....."
Classic Brad.
You passed with flying colors, my friend. And 10 years later - we all still miss you.
