WATCH: Massachusetts Man Starts Fire By Killing Hornets with Roman Candles

Clearing pests from the home should be a two-person job. One to do the actual removal, while the other calls the fire department. Something a Massachusetts man will have to keep in mind for next time. When a can of Raid didn't do the trick at destroying a hornet's nest, Dave Schmida decided he needed something with a little more firepower. So the Sturbridge resident grabbed a Roman candle, aiming several shots at the flying insects living under his roof, which immediately went up in flames, he tells the Telegram Gazette.

Schmida says the house only sustained minor damage, joking, "I did get rid of the bees, so I would say mission accomplished."
