If you're hauling 500 pounds of an illegal drug, it's probably best to exercise caution while driving.
A trio transporting 500 pounds of illegal marijuana through Missouri learned this lesson the hard way, getting into an accident on Interstate 70 Wednesday that left their entire shipment strewn all over the road. "After it was all collected at the crash scene, it took more than one patrol car to transport it to the evidence room,” the Missouri State Highway Patrol tweeted on Thursday.
Two identified Mexican immigrants, ages 32 and 34, were taken into custody on first-degree drug trafficking charges, the Highway Patrol reveals. They face up to 30 years in prison. Although police say a woman was also in the truck, it's unclear whether she's been charged. "You don’t see this everyday," the Highway Patrol tweeted, "but it is 4/20." Is it fair to sentence someone to 30 years in prison when marijuana is legal in 18 states?
