Concerned over what's going on in the world? You could be like this guy.
Although, if someone sneezes on him, he's screwed. I don't want to be there when that happens.
Yeah, it's been one interesting and crazy week. Time to take a quick step back, breathe, and read somthing that isn't about toilet paper or virus news. Starting with this!
"The Thor" The Merrier
Along with Natalie Portman returning as Jane in Thor: Love and Thunder it was also announced that our favorite God of Thunder will be joined by the Asgardians of the Galaxy. That's right, Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Mantis, Nebula, Groot, and Rocket will be making an appearance in the next movie. I mean, this makes sense and should not be that much of a surprise. As we saw towards the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor was going to leave New Asgard behind and roam space with the Guardians (much to Peter Quill's dismay)
Also this week, Marvel Studios released the final trailer for their next film, Black Widow. Take a look!
What if Robin..Lived?!
Remember when the Joker beat Robin with a crowbar in the series A Death in the Family? If you can't get your hands on the comics, here's a clip of how it happened from the animated movie Batman: Under the Red Hood which was loosely based on that story arc.
So yeah, Robin didn't make it out alive. To clarify, this wasn't Dick Grayson who suffered the Jokers wrath, but the second robin, Jason Todd. After Dick decided to leave Batman's shadow, he went off to establish himself as Nightwing in the City of Bludhaven. Batman flew solo for a while until 1983 when Jason Todd arrived in Batman #357. After he took over as the new Boy Wonder, readers, well.....didn't like him. There were many reasons. The big ones were:
- He wasn't Dick Grayson.
- Jason acted like a bratty kid who used his role as Robin as play-time rather than for crime-fighting.
Batman lets sidekicks wear the red and green costume for a reason, mainly to teach them how to deal with some trauma they had been through and not for dress up. Long story short, DC got a bunch of hate mail about this version of Robin so in 1988 DC gave the readers a choice. Does he live or died after his face off with the Joker in A Death in the Family.
I couldn't isolate the picture on my own (copy write and legal stuff like that) but if you check out the article in the tweet below, it shows what could have been if readers at the time felt that Jason should have lived. This would actually make a great "Elseworld" story for DC. How come they haven't gone down that route yet?
If you are in the middle of making that epic Mandalorian armor for an upcoming con, you might have more time. In a statement this past Wednesday, both International Comic Con in San Diego and Wondercon announced they will not be canceled over the coronavirus. That changed on Thursday. At least for one of them. Wondercon, which takes at the Anaheim Convention Center next month, April 10th-12th has been postponed. What about the big one? San Diego Comic Con? As of this posting it is still scheduled for this July. If that does change, we'll update you!
Along with those big events, gamers will also be missing out on E3 2020 this year. In a message to gamers and attendees on Wednesday, E3 tweeted that the event set for this June will be canceled. Yes, canceled. Not postponed like some of the other cons out there. You'll see the return of E3 in 2021. You can check out the full statement below.
Moving the Mutants
Again?! Just to recap, here are the other dates that were set for New Mutants
- April 13, 2018
- February 22, 2019
- August 2, 2019
- April 3, 2020
First it was re-shoots. Then there were delays due to the Disney/20th Century Fox purchase. Now its the coronavirus. This movie can't catch a break. New Mutant's, along with Mulan, have been removed from the release schedules due to coronavirus concerns. Maybe Disney along with their sister studio 20th Century are taking a page out of Sony's book (delaying the next James Bond) and pushing these movies release dates until the virus concerns calm down a bit. I know they will lose a ton of money, but at this point just release them on Disney+ already. Espcically New Mutants.
