June is traditionally the most popular month of the year for weddings.
And this year it was supposed to be the month for one of the biggest celebrity weddings. But singer Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chief Travis Kelce reportedly decided to change the date from June 13, a number that Swift says his lucky for her, to July 3 the day before Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday.
So, their wedding is sure to get way too much attention. But there are thousands of couples who are getting married this month who won’t have the paparazzi there.
And given the questionable success of celebrity marriages, couples getting married in June, will likely have a better chance of having a long and happy marriage.
The tradition of June weddings dates back to ancient Rome, where the month was dedicated to Juno, the goddess of marriage, the hearth, and children who would bring prosperity and happiness to all who wed in her month.
Having a son and daughter in law who were married on this date 24 years ago and who are blessed with three boys, Juno probably didn’t have much to do with their success.
But divine guidance and a strong commitment to each other has. And I’d recommend that for any marriage no matter what the month.
