How do you hang the lights on your Christmas tree?

Do you walk around the tree and hang the string of lights horizontally, or do you do it vertically from top to bottom? If you said horizontally, the experts say you're doing it wrong. Of course, both methods work and what's most important is that the tree is lit up and looking fabulous. But there are a couple of good reasons why they say hanging the lights vertically is better. First, they say the tree will have better coverage and therefore end up needing fewer lights. Also, the lights will be less likely to get tangled and caught on branches and ornaments, which will make taking them down after the holiday easier.
