The Broncos offense started with the ball and got a quick 11 yards on a completion to Harvey. Courtland Sutton came up with a couple of big catches and the Broncos rushing attack was on full display with all 3 backs. RJ Harvey had a strong 15 yard run up the gut. The Broncos worked all the way down to the 3 yard line until a delay of game backed them up to the 8. On 3rd and goal from the 8, Bo Nix scrambled up the middle for a touchdown and the Broncos took an early 7-0 lead. The drive was 14 plays for 8:54.
Raiders offense started with the ball from their own 30 yard line for their first drive of the game. Geno Smith operated efficiently into Broncos territory with the quick passing game. On 3rd and 3 from the Denver 35 yard line, Smith found Ian Thomas for a 5 yard gain to keep the drive going. Ashton Jeanty with a couple of nice runs to get inside the Red Zone as the 1st quarter wound down. On 2nd and 6 from the 15 yard line, Smith hit Brock Bowers for a wide open 15 yard touchdown to tie the game at 7. 10 plays, 70 yards for 6:06.
Broncos offense went back to work from their own 19 yard line and Nix hit Lil'Jordan Humphrey for a 14 yard catch to get the drive going. Facing a 3rd and 8 from the Denver 47 yard line, Bo Nix kept the play alive and found Sutton on the left side for a 9 yard gain and a fresh set of downs. Broncos faced a 3rd and 6 but the pass to Sutton fell incomplete. Broncos forced to punt after initially looking like they were going to let Lutz an attempt of 58 yards. Crawshaw pinned the Raiders inside their 5 yard line with 10:03 remaining in the 1st half.
Ashton Jeanty caught a pass for a 1 yard loss to start the drive. Pat Surtain was called for DPI on 2nd down moving the ball to the 11 yard line. Malcolm Roach sacked Geno on 2nd down and then JFM got the sack on 3rd down forcing a Las Vegas Punt from deep in their own zone. Marvin Mims caught the ball at the LV 48 yard line and seemingly was swarmed under but then he burst through down the left sideline for a 48 yard PR touchdown! Broncos go back in front 14-7 with 6:29 remaining in the 1st half.
Raiders went back to work at their own 31 yard line. After an initial first down, Raiders facing a 3rd and 7 and Nik Bonitto rushed a screen pass attempt and Las Vegas was forced to punt the ball away. Broncos took over at their own 12 yard line with 4:42 remaining in the 2nd quarter.
Lil'Jordan Humphrey gained 8 on 2nd and 6 to get the Broncos initial first down of the game. Trautman gained 12 on the next completion and then RJ Harvey fought for some tough yards on the next completion as we hit the 2 min warning at the Denver 40 yard line. Troy Franklin appeared to gain the necessary yardage on 4th and 3 but then ruled short and the Raiders took over at their own 41 yard line with 21 seconds remaining in the 1st half.
Facing a 3rd and 3, Geno Smith's deep attempt down the left sideline was broken up by Pat Surtain. Geno Smith was sacked on 4th down, leaving time for a hail mary from Nix that fell incomplete.
Raiders offense started with the ball out of halftime but were only able to gain 2 yards before Geno Smith's 3rd down pass fell incomplete (almost intercepted by Jahdae Barron). Las Vegas punted it to the Broncos who would start from their own 9 yard line, early in the 3rd quarter.
Adam Prentice took a short pass in the flat from Nix for a 6 yard gain and an initial first down to the drive. Pat Bryant caught a 13 yard pass over the middle to move the Broncos to the Denver 37 but a holding call on the next play backed the drive up. Jamal Adams grabbed RJ Harvey on the facemask giving the Broncos a new set of downs at the Denver 48 yard line. McLaughlin gained 11 yards to get the Broncos into Raiders territory. Adam Prentice took a 3rd and 1 handoff up the middle for 18 yards. Broncos worked the ball all the way down to the 3 yard line and RJ Harvey punched it in to give the Broncos a 21-7 lead. ANOTHER 14 play drive, 91 yards and 9:13 off the clock.
Broncos kickoff went out of bounds and so the Raiders would start at their own 40. Smith hit Bowers on the first play of the drive for 13 yards to get the drive into Denver territory. The Raiders converted a 4th and 2 completion to Jack Bech for 17 yards. Las Vegas worked down to the 10 yard line. On 3rd and 7, as we began the 4th quarter, Kenny Pickett came into the game for the first time and completed a 2 yard reception to Bech. On 4th and 5, Pickett's pass attempt to Bowers fell incomplete. Denver's ball at the 5.
Pat Bryant caught a slant for 12 yards to get the Broncos out of the shadow of their end zone. Sutton caught a 14 yard pass over the middle to get the Broncos near their 40. A defensive hold gave the Broncos the ball at midfield. On 3rd and 5 from the Las Vegas 45 yard line, Courtland Sutton caught an 11 yard pass to move the chains. The Broncos worked all the way down to the 5 yard line before settling for a chip shot field goal. A NINETEEN play drive for 10:17. Broncos lead 24-7 with 3:56 remaining in the game.
Kenny Pickett still in, Raiders started their next drive from their own 35 yard line. Lockett drew a DPI vs Surtain to get the initial 1st down. Raiders quickly went down the field with big completions to Brock Bowers and eventually Shedrick Jackson for 25 yards and a touchdown. 24-14 with 2:17 remaining in the game.
Raiders onside kick failed, Broncos got the ball at the Raiders 44 yard line. Broncos ran some clock but couldn't run it out. Raiders took the ball down the field and made a 46 yard field goal at the buzzer to lose 24-17.
