As Southern California continues to recover from the devastating wildfires, a local cat rescue is making an effort to help displaced animals.
Homeward Bound Cat Adoption, a nonprofit organization in Las Vegas, has started transferring adoptable cats from overcrowded shelters in the Los Angeles area.
Last Saturday, a dozen cats were brought to Las Vegas.
"We are working to do a transfer of about 15 cats this upcoming Saturday as well," said Mackenzie Dean, operations coordinator for Homeward Bound. "This is the beginning, absolutely."
She emphasized the importance of these transfers, explaining it allows Southern California shelters to focus on injured or lost pets.
Homeward Bound is open for adoptions from Tuesday through Sunday, located at 2675 E. Flamingo.
