(Washington, IA) -- An eastern Iowa bond issue approved by a margin of less than two dozen votes won't be thrown out even though nearly one hundred ballots were given to non-residents.
The $15 million Highland Community School District bond issue will pay for a new gym, classroom and security upgrades.
A review board says Iowa law doesn't allow for the votes from the precinct in question to be tossed out because the ballots given to voters living outside of Washington County didn't affect the overall outcome.
