Mt. Penn Requests Study Into Expenses, Efficiency Of Police Department
(Mt. Penn, PA) -- Officials in Mount Penn are calling for a study into the expenditures and efficiency of the Central Berks Regional Police Department. Borough Manager Hunter Ahrens said the growing cost of police services is causing financial challenges, and wants to look into if the municipality can do "more with less." Central Berks Regional Police Chief Ray Serafin said the study is unnecessary, and the borough should "be able to figure things out based on the budget." The borough says law enforcement costs take up 58-percent of the general fund.
