(Rock Island, IL) -- Rock Island Police release the name of the officer involved in the January 5th shooting. Police say Officer Brett Taylor was dragged about 100 feet by a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Jakarta Jackson, while trying to make an arrest on a warrant out of Rock Island County. Investigators say Taylor later fatally shot Jackson while being dragged.
Taylor has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation takes place. Rock Island Police say Officer Taylor has been with the department since 2021.
