Cher's memoir, "Cher: The Memoir, Part One," has been a runaway success, holding the number one spot on The New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction Best Sellers list for six weeks. Her fans are eagerly anticipating Part Two, which is slated for release in November. However, Cher hasn't started writing it yet. During her appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, Cher candidly admitted, “I was late [with Part One]. I finished it when they had to publish it… I’m a little tardy, but I think I’ll be better this time.”
The situation is even more ironic considering Cher didn't actually write Part One herself. When it was published in November, she hadn't even read it because the process had "exhausted" her. Initially, a ghostwriter began the project, but Cher felt it didn't capture her true essence. She decided that her story was too vast to be contained in a single volume, explaining that there was "too much life. Lived too long."
To ensure her memoir felt authentic, two additional ghostwriters were brought on board, and Cher began meeting weekly with her editor. This effort aimed to better capture her voice and experiences.
