SOUTH HAVEN (WOOD-AM) - South Haven is eyeing a former furniture manufacturing site to build affordable housing despite its PFAS contamination.
The city is eyeing a 5.5-acre site on Elkenburg Street.
The S.E. Overton Company building was demolished more than a decade ago.
"The whole purpose is to mitigate the paths of exposure," City Manager Kate Hosier told WOOD-TV. "We’ll be going down that path as well. We’re very aware what’s on that site and we’ve also shared what we know about the site with any potential developers."
