The Syracuse Fire department was called to the Charter school on Park Ave around 8 Tuesday morning for a Cardiac arrest in the cafeteria.
When first responders arrived at the scene where the victim was, their Carbon Monoxide detectors alerted them of high levels of the gas.
Twelve adults were evaluated, five taken to the hospital for treatment. Most were working in the kitchen area.
Syracuse Police are investigating the death and the gas leak, and whether they are connected.
No word on the identity of the deceased.
