THE FBI RELEASES FOOTAGE OF THE J6 PIPE BOMBER And this would have been super excellent in say, January of 2021 when it would have been helpful. A pipe bomb was left outside DNC HQ and didn't go off, but the fumbling bumbling FBI didn't release a pretty decent video of this person UNTIL YESTERDAY. What the actual you know what???? See the person below.
But that's not all, they pointed out that this person is wearing a sneaker that was only produced 25,000 times, which makes it pretty unique, don't you think?
Oh, and they know he is 5'7"
The FBI has had this tape THE ENTIRE TIME. Why did they release it now? Perhaps to take our attention off the two suicide killers in New Orleans and Vegas? Perhaps? The FBI needs new leadership and they need it now. Kash Patel is exactly the man to scrape off the top layer of rot and change the culture there. Some agents are afraid he will be seeking retribution, but what they call retribution I call accountability. Who filed the fake FISA warrant request on Carter Page? Fire them. Who kept leaking lied to Adam Schiff about the investigation? Fire them. Fire anyone who resists the FBI returning to it's non-political crime fighting roots. Fire them all. This Kash Patel talking about how to fix the FBI.
We need the FBI to be the organization we trust for law enforcement. I frankly don't trust them at all right now, which sucks so bad.
THE WINE YOGI IS ON TO TALK DRY JANUARY What is Dry January? It's the month that some people take off from drinking to give their livers (and their minds) a rest after the excessives of December. The Wine Yogi Kristal Alfonso has some great suggestions if you want to feel like you're having a glass of wine or a cocktail with none of the hangover. Read her blog on that and setting intentions for the year here. If beer is your thing, here are some NA beers to give a try this year.
THE VEGAS BOMBER GOT DUMPED BY HIS WIFE Over Christmas over allegations of him cheating. Was that why he decided to take himself out in dramatic fashion? Maybe. Otherwise this dude showed no signs of distress. That's just sad.

CASH ISN'T KING AT THE AIRPORT Where you will no longer be able to pay with cash when you leave the parking garage or lots. If you only have cash you must hit the kiosk on the 5th floor of the airport BEFORE you go to your car. This should be a good cluster for a bit.
MAKE SURE YOUR PASSPORT AND ID ARE RIGHT TO TRAVEL The Read ID rule has gone into effect so make sure you've got the right kind of driver's license (or use your passport) when flying. Ironically I've been told at three different TSA checkpoints in the country that the Colorado drivers license is often a problem for the TSA. You also need to know about new requirements to travel to the UK and Europe, you can read it all here.

MASK MANDATES MAKE A COMEBACK In four different state's hospital groups have brought back mask mandates as people are being hospitalized for the flu, RSV, and Covid. It makes me question the efficacy of our entire healthcare system when I see entirely unscientific decisions like this being made. So, so stupid.
DOUGLAS COUNTY IF THE 7TH RICHEST COUNTY IN THE COUNTRY And as a resident I'm trying to do my part. This is odd to me because you don't necessarily think of Douglas County as being bougie. It's sort of the opposite of bougie. We don't have fancy stores or a Rodeo drive and most people drive SUVs. Just saying. The richest county is of course Loudon County, Virginia, which is where lobbyists and politicians live.
A SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE LEADS TO THESE CHRONIC CONDITIONS A recent survey of patients in a Midwestern hospital group showed huge differences in health outcomes for people who exercised and people who don't. The differences are staggering, and not just for obesity. Read this:
The data painted a compelling picture of how physical activity influences overall health. Active patients showed significantly lower rates of depression (15% compared to 26% in inactive patients), obesity (12% versus 21%), and hypertension (20% versus 35%). Their cardiovascular health markers were also notably better, including lower resting pulse rates and more favorable cholesterol profiles.
And we're not talking hours in the gym here, we're talking a 30 minute brisk walk per day. You can do this. Your life depends on it.
AFGHANISTAN WAS ALWAYS A MESS AND STILL IS And this column by John F. Sopko, who has served as the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction since 2012, shows how bad it really is and always has been when it comes to American dollars and blood being poured into a corrupt hellhole. What struck me are the similarities to how we are "tackling" homelessness. Throwing gobs of money at it with zero accountability. This is from the New York Times:
But a perverse incentive drove our system. To win promotions and bigger salaries, military and civilian leaders felt they had to sell their tours of duty, deployments, programs and projects as successes — even when they were not. Leaders tended to report and highlight favorable information while obscuring that which pointed to failure. After all, failures do not lead to an ambassadorship or an elevation to general.
They also aren’t good business for the contractors on which the U.S. mission relied to manage and support programs and projects. For contractors, claiming success, whether real or imaginary, was vital to obtaining future business. So spending became the measure of success. (The same, of course, is true in Washington, where unspent allocations are tantamount to failure, leading to budget cuts.) Accountability for how money was spent was poor. One general told us that he faced a challenge: How to spend the remaining $1 billion from his annual budget in just over a month? Returning the money was not an option. Another official we spoke to said he refused to cancel a multimillion-dollar building project that field commanders did not want, because the funding had to be spent. The building was never used.
Doesn't that sound familiar? When the Mayor says "we're winning" but the number of unsheltered people rises, just think of Afghanistan as it's the same sort of operation.

BOOZE MAY GET CANCER WARNINGS Let's face it, alcohol is a net negative. Sure, it's fun to go out and drink with your friends, but it leads to bad decision making, addiction and even death. Now the Surgeon General wants to put Cancer warning labels on booze too. New details on the connection between alcohol and cancer have lead to this and I fully expect this to continue to be a topic of conversation. Unfortunately too many will ignore the warnings.
WE MAY HAVE A NEW SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE TODAY And it may not be Mike Johnson who has to likely get a few Democrat votes (which won't happen) to get over the finish line. My friend Thomas Massie says he is an absolute NO so we'll see what happens next.
