Stacks Espresso Bar in Albany is relocating from 260 Lark Street to 275 Lark Street, the former site of Cafe Hollywood. The move, set for February 1, marks a new chapter for Stacks, which has been a staple on Lark Street since 2014. The new location offers expanded space, including a spacious patio and kitchen, allowing Stacks to enhance its offerings with food, cocktails, and entertainment.
Stacks CEO Susan Dunckel expressed excitement about the move, noting the opportunity to expand and create a community hub. The new location will nearly triple the size of the current shop, providing room for additional services like roasting coffee beans and hosting events. Dunckel plans to maintain the community-oriented atmosphere while introducing new features like a gallery for local artwork and a lounge area with a working fireplace.
The relocation comes after Cafe Hollywood closed in November following a shooting incident. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan supports the transition, stating that it brings fresh energy to the neighborhood. The move is part of Stacks' broader strategy to adapt each location to its community, as seen in its other branches in Troy and Albany.
