Police say semi that hit US-131 overpass in Dorr was over height limit

DORR TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Allegan County Sheriff's Office says a semi-truck struck the northbound US-131 overpass at 144th Avenue in Dorr Township on Tuesday morning.

That led to three other vehicles behind it crashing, as well. Police say only minor injuries resulted. But all northbound lanes had to be shut down for a while for cleanup of debris, and so the bridge could be inspected. They add that the semi hit the overpass because it was over the height limit.

It occurred around 9:45 a.m. and the northbound lanes didn't reopen until 2:45 p.m.

Our partners at WOOD-TV 8 posted a photo of the crashed semi in an online article.
