Sometimes you need a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Maybe you want to move away from big city living or perhaps you simply want to see what interesting small towns are out there and learn more about their fascinating histories, dine at hole-in-the-wall restaurants, take a leisurely stroll to see the natural splendor or have some fun at unique attractions. Fortunately, there are plenty such hidden gems found around the country that are worth visiting on a day trip or weekend getaway.
HGTV searched around the country for "charming" hamlets and villages to compile a list of the "best kept secret" of the best small town in every state. According to the site, the top choice for Georgia is the "historic" destination of Cartersville.
Here's what HGTV had to say about this quaint spot:
"Discover dinosaurs and fine Western art in Cartersville, Georgia, located about 50 minutes from Atlanta. Its world-class Tellus Science Museum houses permanent galleries of mineral, fossils, transportation technology and much more, while the Booth Western Art Museum is the world's largest permanent exhibition space for Western art. After browsing the museums, visit Cartersville's historic downtown and take a selfie in front of the first painted wall ad for Coca-Cola."
