Willie Fritz and the Houston Cougars landed a huge pickup on Wednesday as former Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman committed to the Coogs. Weigman, a former 5-star recruit, made the announcement on his social media pages.
Weigman has battled injuries in his first few years with the Aggies, but when healthy he has been a very productive quarterback, throwing for 2,600 career passing yards with 19 touchdowns. Weigman is 9-4 as a starter in 13 career starts. The Coogs went 4-8 in Fritz's debut season in Houston, but pulled off upsets at TCU, vs Utah and vs 17th-ranked Kansas State.
While the Coogs struggled at the QB position overall in 2024, the acquisition of Weigman should help provide some stability at the all-important position. Houston will open next season on August 30th vs Stephen F Austin.
