Indiana Fever superstar rookie, Caitlin Clark has been named TIME’s Athlete of the Year and her comments are receiving a ton of attention. She cites her privilege as a white player and makes a concerted effort to uplift the many black players that have laid the foundation for her success in the WNBA. Doug thinks it’s humiliating that social pressure is keeping her from truly celebrating her own success.
Doug Gottlieb: “We’re making her basically apologize for her success and the fandom of her success, and saying it’s only because she’s white. That’s what we’re doing and that’s embarrassing. That’s humiliating.”
