An audit of the Louisiana Department of Health says the agency underachieves in its oversight for providers of at-home care for people with disabilities.
The state auditor says the agency fails to meet its internal goals of making sure the providers keep up with regulations. The department's goal is to survey the providers once every three years.
The audit found that only 410 of the nearly 550 providers had completed their surveys. In addition, 69 providers hadn't received a survey at all.
