1 of 1 Myself, Kappy, Jack, & Johhny Chav at the Cy Young Statue in Boston. We made the trek from Fenway to the campus of Northeastern. That part of Northeastern was the site of the Huntington Avenue Grounds, setting for the 1st World Series in history, between the Boston Pilgrims/Americans (later to be called the Red Sox) and Pittsburgh Pirates (the team of Honus Wagner). The great Cy Young threw the first pitch of that World Series. Boston would end up winning 5 games to 3. Cy Young's statue is located exactly where the pitcher's mound would have been in 1903 with a home plate plaque 60 feet away, exactly where it would have been 120 years ago. It was a baseball mad town even then. The Braves played just over the railroad tracks from the Americans in the National league. My buddy Kappy Karl in the back of this picture clearly doesn't care. He got cranky after walking 20 minutes and put on a sour face. This did not surprise me.
1 of 1 Me facing the great Cy Young at the exact spot of home plate for the 1903 World Series. The former Huntington Avenue Grounds where the Boston Americans used to play is located on the campus of Northeastern.

1 of 1 Kappy Karl, disgusted that we had to walk 20 minutes, does not want to greet the great Cy Young. He needs counseling.
1 of 1 Despite the Sox getting crushed by the Astros, it was a fun night at Fenway Park!
