My Weekend: The Clause's, Spencer & The Walrus, Pork Pies and More

Pretty low key weekend for me! How was yours?

Its not every day you get to hang out with Mr & Mrs Claus- but Kelly and I did Friday after the show! We headed over to WMUR-TV to help with TOYS FOR TOTS! The Mr & Mrs were there, and a lot of really nice folks came by and dropped off a bunch of toys for kids throughout NH!

Headed up to Concord Friday night to go see SPENCER & THE WALRUS - it's a band fronted by longtime Portland musician/performer Spencer Albee (formerly of Rustic Overtones and more). It's a pet project for him because like me - the dude LOVES The Beatles. It was their first time at the Bank of NH Stage in Concord and they were amazing. As a Beatle fan- Im a tough critic when someone covers one of their tunes (let alone 2 hours worth of them!)- but this band was incredible. What I loved was the fact they didn't take the easy road, no sir! The tackled some of the tough Beatles tunes- like "Because" - a 5 part harmony tune that I've never seen anyone do. Plus - I Am The Walrus, a blisterning I Want You (She's So Heavy), the entire Abbey Road album, and tons more. Man, if you like the Beatles - and you get a chance to see these guys- DO IT.

Bravo, Spencer. Great show.

And I have to say one thing about the city of Concord-

It's a pretty friggin cool town! Every time I go there they got something going downtown thats pretty neat. It was a holiday theme on Friday night with all the shops open, christmas carolers and more. And before the show, I slipped into Pitchfork Records- easily the biggest record store I've been in in a while- and man - they got EVERYTHING. I mean - new and used albums, cd's - and even CASSETTES!

Holy crap! I haven t see a cassette shelf (let along a freaking WALL of em) since the 80's!!! Plus the still sell receivers, cassette players and tons of stereo stuff! Cool place!

It rained pretty much all day on Saturday - so I just chilled at home. Valerie and I watched the new Will Ferrell/Ryan Reynolds movie "Spirited" on Apple+. It's a musical, so I think it might not be for a lot of folks- but we dug it. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments in it too -

And we ordered in too - and let me tell you - if you don't like BBQ chicken pizza with pineapple- I think there's seriously something wrong with you.....

SO DAMN GOOD!

And PS - don't email me and tell me how much that pizza is gross, because you're obviously high if you think that. Or - maybe a communist. Or - and this is less likely- you were raised by wolves.

Moving on....

Got out early on Sunday to go shoot a bit up at Nubble Light. I havent been there for a while, so I figured I'd get up to shoot the light lit up for Christmas -

Strange - nobody was there for quite a while. That's pretty unusual for such a popular place....

But here's a couple I got...

Temps were about 35 - so it was pretty tolerable! Nice morning!

And on Sunday - it was a big day at the house- it was PORK PIE DAY!

It ain't the holidays unless you got Pork Pies bro...

Hope you all had a good weekend -
