The Weekend: Pickity Place, A Movie Date, Portland, Dad and The Bruins

At some point, Mother Nature has to stop being so difficult, right? I mean - how many friggin rain days do we have to get on weekends? Haha-

And save me that - "Its New England, what do you expect?". You think I don't KNOW that? I also know that we in New England bitch about stuff- haha- so THERE!

Anyway- still had a good weekend <grin>

Valerie and I took in a movie on Friday night, and believe it or not- it didn't have anyone wearing capes, or saving the world from impending doom! We saw Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Jason Batement in "Air".

It's a really good movie and it's the story about how Nike placed all it's faith in Michael Jordan to move the sneaker company out of the basement with basketball players. It was pretty much one guy who went all in on MJ, and

then convinced everybody else it was a gamble worth taking. Turns out, the dude couldn't have been more right. See this movie, it's good.

Got up early on Saturday and headed out to Portland to see if I could beat the clouds and take in a sunrise-

Portland Head Light is in Cape Elizabeth and it's such a gorgeous place to shoot. It's also an incredible park thats great for walks, picnics and get togethers- and the views are STUNNING!

And no trip to Portland is complete without a stop at Becky's.

I had to have breakfast- because we were headed west for Lunch -

Saturday afternoon Valerie and I headed out to a place I had read about for a long time, called "Pickity Place". It's a small house turned restaurant in Mason NH, and it's the place that Grandma's House of Little Red Riding Hood fame, was based on. I've read about how special a place it us, and I have to say - it lived up to it's reputation and then some!

It's not your average restaurant- they only serve lunch, and on Saturday's they do three settings a day, and we got into the last one at 3:30p. It's a 5 course gourmet meal, and even though the portions are small- they are incredible!

I have to say - from the homemade mango lemonade, to the grilled asparagus egg drop soup, the house blackberry vinagrette salad, the steak diane, and the chocolate banana pie - every single bit of what was served was delicious! It's a set menu but you do get your choice of main course. The menu changes each month - and everything on it is fresh. Seriously- if I was a restaurant reviewer- I'd give Pickity Place 5 STARS! The food begins to hit your table almost as soon as you sit down and the service is top shelf. And in case you're thinking "Oh yeah, but I bet it's expensive!"- the whole thing costs $29.99. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

I got to meet Chef Jon Comeau - one of the two chef's at Pickity Place (and he's a Buzz listener too!), and we raved about the place to him! Special shout out to his Mom, Andrea, as well as owner Keith Grimes (who's the head Chef as well) and the rest of the staff! You folks are all rock stars!!!!

Here's a pic with Chef Jon -

Many of you have asked about how my Dad is doing- he's recuperating and working on getting his strengh back after his hospital stay at a local rehab facility - and when I visited him on Sunday - he made a special request.

And let me tell you - when your Dad asks you for a milkshake- no matter how shitty the weather is -

YOU GET THE MAN A MILKSHAKE!! - Hahah- Arnie's doing well and we hope to have him home in the next day or so.

And I'll leave you with this - the best boat name I saw while I was in Portland -

Hope you had a good weekend -

g

ps. The Bruins just lost in overtime- and Im devastated. There was no better team in hockey all year - and they got it taken to them in Round One. This one hurts. Bad. F***!
