It was a pretty busy weekend- that for me - actually began on Thursday night when my family and I held a fundraiser for TEDY'S TEAM at the Lilac City Grille in Rochester! Tedy's Team is Tedy Bruschi's foundation that helps to support stroke and heart disease survivors, and one of the ways they do that is by raising funds through runners in the Boston Marathon. Our son Tyler is running for the team and we had a fundraiser at Lilac City Grille, with music, raffles and stuff- and we had a blast!
Roadkill, Kayla and Kelly came by (Laura had an event that night so she couldn't join us) and hung out! HUGE thank you to everybody that came out- listeners, friends and family, and especially to Heather and the awesome staff at Lilac City Grille! Special shout out to our long time friend- the amazing Tim Theriault, who played that night and donated all his tips to Tedy's Team! Class act, brother!
Here's my family, both real and Buzz family - along with Heather from LLCG!
On Friday night I hosted 9th Gala to Support the NH Police Cadet Training Academy in Concord NH. It's an AMAZING program that's been running for 50 years, and it's designed to help young people, ages 14 to 20, develop skills and knowledge about law enforcement, leadership and themselves. And regardless if those young adults go into law enforcement- the come out of the program with skills that will last a lifetime. Here's a pic with one of the Academy Staff, Lt (Ret)Pierre Pouliot formerly of the Goffstown PD -
Met a lot of really nice folks - Pierre included- and I had a great time! I was honored to be asked to be there-
I got home late Friday night, and still headed out at 4:30a on Saturday to get out and grabs some photographs amidst the extremely low temperatures that were forecasted.
The temps were -15 to -17 below zero- and when you added the stiff wind it hit -34 to -37. Dangerous stuff, yes- but man it was beautiful to see it out along the ocean.
It was the coldest temps I'd ever shot in -
Here's a couple shots I got...
Facemasks are a must. So are heated gloves, multiple layers, lined pants, long johns, portable hand heaters in your pockets, and double socks. Here's one of Portland Head Light on Cape Elizabeth- taken from the other side of Willard Beach.
The sea smoke is a thick fog that comes up from the water when the ocean water is warmer than the air. In this case- thick and moving right to left. It's the kind of cold you could actually see, let alone feel.
I then shot a little further inland to shoot Spring Point Light in South Portland and I caught the Portland Ferry headed out to the islands...
Then it was on to Cape Porpoise, where a thick coating of ice covered boat motors and edges as the boats moored further out were covered in sea smoke.
When I got out of the truck to shoot here, I left my facemask in the car, figuring it would be a quick shoot. And thats where the 2nd half of this video comes in....
Sunday was a chill day, working on some home projects and doing a little grocery shopping-
And that's when I noticed something....
Am I right or am I right?
You know I am - haha -
Hope you had a good weekend!
