Here's how my weekend started:
*see anyone you recognize? haha...
Yup. Tossed back a couple delicious Jimmy Juices at The Old Ferry Landing in Portsmouth with my buddy Tom! He thinks it's hilarious when I get a buzz on - haha....
Love the Ferry Landing and all the folks that work there. Such a cool, chill place to hang on a Friday afternoon after a long week! (ps. Bergeron will be on with us this week!)
Later that night- we headed out to see my friend ADAM EZRA and the ADAM EZRA GROUP! They were opening a show at the Casino Ballroom for JJ Grey!
Valerie and I brought our friends Dave and Jolene, with their son Collin and his wife Cathy to the show- and we slipped backstage with Andy Herrick of the Casino Ballroom. It was a very cool night- AEG delivered a great set that really got the crowd into it. Its such a joy to watch a band connect with an audience- and nobody does it like Adam and the band. Great people, making great music.
And let me tell you - I had never heard of JJ Grey until about 3 weeks ago, and like you always do when you know you're going to a show of someone you've never seen before - you check em out online. Now, JJ's stuff is very good......BUT....
His LIVE show - is NEXT LEVEL!
It was an AMAZING show! It was their first time as a headliner at the Ballroom - and he was basking in it. The music had a great vibe, with incredible soul and energy! I'd see these guys again tomorrow if I could.
THAT'S HOW GOOD THEY ARE....
Saturday we had some friends over to chill by the pool - and before they came over I got a chance to see some of the new documentary series on Netflix about WOODSTOCK 99 - called
"Trainwreck: Woodstock 99".
It's interesting watching this shit go off the rails. And it DID......
"Fans" tore up the staging, started fires, overturned cars and all kinds of nonsense- and this is the behind the scenes story of how it happened, and how it got out of control because those in charge had no idea what they were doing...
It should be called "Shitshow: Woodstock 99".
And what sucks is- there were some really cool performances there - that all got overshadowed by a bunch of idiots who had to RAGE against something. Ugh.....
When you're "RAGING" to Limp Bizkit - you really have to check yourself, ok Chad? (Godsmack, btw played- and I remember that they CRUSHED IT)
Anyway- on Sunday - I got up early to check out the Suncook Balloon Rally in Pittsfield. Balloon rallies are a crap shoot because you get there early sometimes to find out they're not flying because of unsafe winds at altitude. Also - from a photographic standpoint- it's a challenge getting a good shot because of all the factors involved: the sky, how many balloons go up at once (a single balloon shot isn't interesting, is it?), the backgrounds and such). But- the fun is in the trying, right? I did manage to get a couple -
Like this guy touching his basket on the water of the river and lifting back off again...

And something a little different- a reflection shot....
Lastly- I always like the colors cutting into the sky...
