Storm Kicks Up Some Serious Waves...

Last weeks Nor'Easter kicked up some serious surf along the coast. I took a ride out to York, to Nubble Light (which is actually in Cape Neddick) to check it out. And if I was to guess, I'd say some of the waves were about 18 feet high - which is about as big as I've ever seen there. Here's a few pics of what it looked like -

They crashed hard enough to send water over the backside of the island, and in some cases- almost as high as Nubble Light itself-

The wind was whipping some serious sleet that stung any exposed skin you had- so it was a challenge to shoot. Above- the waves pounded the shore just north of Nubble Light- and the spray almost reach the top of the 3 story house there.

Some times I try black and white versions of shots because on a day like that, there's not a whole lot of color.

And the image below is shot facing south. Those waves are easily 15 foot swells. Crazy to watch and hear-

Storms are pretty cool to watch and are challenging to photograph, but it sure is a blast -
